Sculptural Cat III

Product Description
Every creative journey has a moment where everything suddenly makes sense. Sculptural Cat III is that moment. Created during the first UK lockdown in 2020, this artwork marks the culmination of six days of relentless experimentation while searching for a logo that, ironically, had nothing to do with cats. The original brief was to design a simple fox head. Instead, page after page filled with flowing circles, elegant curves and abstract animal forms. What started as frustration slowly transformed into discovery, eventually giving birth to a style Chris Berry now calls Sculptural Ink Minimalism. This final drawing represents the point where confidence replaced uncertainty. Unlike the previous studies, every line works in harmony. Bold sweeping curves create the cat’s silhouette while lighter construction lines remain visible beneath the finished composition, revealing the architecture hidden inside the artwork. The dramatic looping tail balances the piece perfectly, while the elegant profile gives the cat both strength and serenity. There is very little unnecessary detail. Instead, the eye is guided by rhythm, negative space and beautifully weighted black forms that appear almost sculpted rather than drawn. The result is an artwork that feels modern, timeless and effortlessly sophisticated. Displayed on its own, Sculptural Cat III makes a striking statement in contemporary interiors. Displayed alongside Sculptural Cat I and Sculptural Cat II, it completes the original trilogy and tells the full story of an artist discovering a completely new visual language through persistence, curiosity and countless discarded sketches. It serves as a reminder that some of the best creative discoveries happen when you stop trying to force the answer and simply allow yourself to explore.
