Sometimes the artwork you never intended to create becomes the one that changes everything. Sculptural Cat was born during the first UK lockdown in 2020. What began as a straightforward logo commission soon became an unexpected six-day creative obsession. The brief sounded simple enough: create a clean, circular fox head in solid black. Instead, sketch after sketch evolved into something entirely different. Hours of drawing circles, curves and intersecting lines produced an ever-growing collection of cats, foxes and abstract creatures, each one taking the exploration a little further. This particular piece became one of those happy accidents. Over six days, fuelled by endless YouTube tutorials, Tumblr inspiration and DeviantArt rabbit holes, the work gradually developed into a style focused less on illustration and more on structure. Every curve feels sculpted rather than drawn. Every line contributes to the illusion of weight, balance and movement. That journey ultimately led to what Chris Berry now describes as Sculptural Ink Minimalism—a style that explores how the fewest possible marks can create the greatest sense of form. The final logo delighted the client, but the experiments that surrounded it became just as important. They represent the freedom to explore without deadlines, without expectation and without knowing where the pencil might lead next. Rendered entirely in monochrome, Sculptural Cat brings elegance, sophistication and contemporary simplicity to any room. Whether displayed in a modern office, creative studio, hallway or living space, its flowing geometry invites viewers to look closer and discover something new with every glance.
