People often ask me where my art comes from.
The honest answer is that it comes from life.
I’ve been creating for over 36 years, experimenting with all sorts of styles, techniques and ideas. I’ve never wanted to be known for just one style because that’s not who I am. If an idea excites me, I’ll create it. Some pieces are colourful and fun, others are emotional, quirky or completely unexpected.
But 2014 changed everything.
That year I found myself homeless, and not long afterwards I suffered a stroke. It was one of the hardest periods of my life. When everything else felt uncertain, art became the one thing I could control. It gave me purpose, helped me process what was happening around me and reminded me that creativity can survive even the darkest moments.
I didn’t create art because I wanted to become an artist.
I created because I needed to.
Over the years I’ve filled sketchbooks, folders, hard drives and boxes with artwork that very few people have ever seen. Some pieces were forgotten, others packed away, and many were simply left waiting for the right time.
I have always used my art to create my post images.
That time is now.
The Art List is my way of opening those boxes and sharing that journey with the world. Alongside new artwork, I’m rediscovering pieces I’d almost forgotten existed and giving them the chance to be seen for the first time.
Some of these artworks are over 30 years old. Others were created during some of the most challenging moments of my life. Many are brand new. Together they tell the story of where I’ve been, what I’ve experienced and how creativity has remained a constant throughout it all.
Everything you see here has been created by me.
